Arctic15 Pitching Competition Winner Has Been Determined

Arctic15 Microsoft Pitching Competition hit Cable Factory on May 4, where 15 startups from the Nordics and Baltics competed for a final prize of 50 000 euros from Finnish Business Angels Network. The competition was hosted by Valerie Vlasenko and Laura Inamedinova and judged by 7 judges, namely Mirja Laulajainen (FIBAN), Sami Etula (FIBAN), Jan Borgstadt (Join Capital), Drazen Dodik (Microsoft), Ralf Wahlsten (Open Ocean), Nicole Glaros (Techstars), Sam Myers (Balderton). Only 3 companies made it to the finals - virtual assistant for recruitment TalentAdore, positive peer communication app Mightifier and keyboardless CRM data input solution ZeroKeyboard

We are proud to present this year's winner, and the winner is Mightifier. Finnish EdTech startup builds a positive peer communication app with a measurable impact. The app boosts social and emotional learning, which are strongly connected to academic performance and vital to the success of the 21st Century kids.

"Mightifier app is a scalable, measurable, and courageous solution to tackle the difficult problem of bullying in a new way," - says CEO Mervi Pankäläinen, and continues "There’s a tremendous, global need to enhance the wellbeing at classrooms with very few solutions currently available. The win enables us to expand our operations even further globally, take on new markets, and help more teachers and kids to be successful."

Success at Microsoft Pitching Competition was not just beginner's luck. Mightifier won a Grand Prix, best in show award in a prestigious Finnish design competition Vuoden Huiput 2016. Mightifier app was also recently named the winner of Best in Design and honored in Most Innovative Digital Service category in the annual 2017 Grand One Awards. The app also placed in the top 5 in the 2017 Webby Awards.

The company is presently running pilot programs in Finland and the USA, and so far over 90% of teachers have seen a more positive class atmosphere, less bullying and better focus on learning. On behalf of Arctic15 team we would like to greet Mightifier on the happy event, and wish them the best of luck!
